Sojourn Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 28, 20261. Who We AreSojourn (the "App") is developed and operated by Trek and Sojourn ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the App, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].2. Information We Collect2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a unique account identifier generated by our authentication provider (Firebase Authentication). Your password is managed and stored by Firebase Authentication; we do not see or store your password in plain text.
2.2 Website Email Collection
Our website (sojourntracker.com / sojourntracker.app) may ask for your email address so we can send you updates about the App, such as launch announcements or major feature releases.
2.3 User Content
The App lets you log and store information you choose to enter, including:
- Hike details (trail name, start/end dates, mileage, direction)
- Daily stats entries (miles hiked, notes)
- Journal entries and any photos you attach to them
- A profile photo, if you choose to add one
- Gear and pack list items
- Hike plans and resupply tracking
This content is private to your account. We do not make it visible to other users. The App does include a global list of resupply points (trail towns, services, and mile markers) that is provided by us for reference; you can view this list, but it is not user-generated and is not linked back to your personal data.
2.4 Subscription and Payment Information
If you subscribe to Sojourn Pro, your purchase is processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status and entitlements, which receives a device/account identifier and purchase/renewal status from Apple or Google.
2.5 Diagnostic Information
We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and diagnostic logs so we can identify and fix bugs. This may include a device identifier, device model, operating system version, and the sequence of app events leading up to a crash. We do not use this information for advertising.
2.6 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your precise location or GPS data. The App does not browse or access your device's photo gallery on its own — it only accesses a photo when you actively choose one, such as selecting a profile photo or attaching a photo to a journal entry. We do not access your contacts or any other data not described above.
3. How We Use InformationWe use the information described above to:- Provide, operate, and maintain the App's core features
- Sync your data across your devices when you are signed in and online
- Verify and manage your subscription
- Diagnose crashes and technical issues
- Respond to support requests you send us
- Maintain the security and integrity of the App
- Send you updates about the App via email (website only)
4. How Your Data Is Stored
Sojourn is designed to work offline. Your hike, stats, journal, gear, and plan data is stored locally on your device. When your device has an internet connection and you are signed in, this data syncs to our backend, which is hosted on Google Firebase (Firestore for structured data and Cloud Storage for journal photos). An internet connection is required for certain actions, including: signing up or signing in, creating a new hike, switching your active hike, and making changes to your account. Most day-to-day logging works without a connection and syncs automatically once you're back online.5. How We Share InformationWe do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the App:● Google Firebase — authentication, data storage/sync, and crash reporting
● RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management
● Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing for subscriptions
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Trek and Sojourn, our users, or the public.
6. Data RetentionWe retain your account and content for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete your Firestore data (hikes, entries, journal, gear, and plans) and your authentication record. Locally stored data on your device is also cleared when you delete your account or switch to a different account on the same device.7. Your Rights and ChoicesYou can access, edit, or delete most of your content directly within the App. You can delete your account entirely from Settings → Account. This permanently removes your data as described in Section 6. To request a copy of your data or ask questions about your information, contact us at [email protected].8. Children's PrivacySojourn is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.9. International UsersOur service providers, including Firebase, may process and store information on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. By using the App, you consent to this transfer and processing.10. SecurityWe use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.11. Changes to This PolicyWe may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.12.
